A body becoming air
A drawing that continues to change, even after completion — time as collaborator.
This is the same bird from Bird in Flight – Moment of Creation, but transformed by time. The fixative could not stop the ash from slowly detaching; what remains is a palimpsest, a faint shadow of the original gesture.
This slow erasure is intentional: I allow the work to keep living, to breathe and to decay. It turns the drawing into a collaboration with entropy — a performance stretched over months, where gravity, air, and dust become co-authors.
Conceptually, it speaks about freedom and memory. The bird, once fierce, now hovers as a ghost: still flying, but in a quieter register, as if memory itself has grown fragile. The work insists that disappearance is part of its meaning: art is not only about fixing a moment, but about acknowledging its loss.
