Corporeal Aesthetics: Hand with Violin

The body holds a sound

Sculptural hand and violin, 2022 — a musician’s gesture remains after the living performer and the sound have disappeared.

View work details

A sculptural hand rests on the fingerboard of a violin, holding the exact shape of a gesture without producing sound. The work separates bodily memory from the living performer: technique remains, while agency, touch, and music are suspended.

The hand becomes both prosthesis and portrait—an object that remembers an absent player.
